Title:
Ohm
website I really had expected Ohm to go the whole programmed route, their slow groove style fits perfectly into the whole computer aided framework. Instead they chose an acoustic production (with two remixes at the end), keeping all the current value within the sounds they're able to recreate live - a brave move. While they have carefully selected certain sounds and voices for different songs, I still find the production limiting. The playing is really tight and beautifully dynamic, each musician adding their own unique style to the whole. The songs are very dramatic, vocally, lyrically as well as musically, with reference to Bowie, U2 and Tricky, although completely within a new context, helped along by the use of Brendan's viola and Sven's awesome bass playing. Some great songs here, including 'Bomber', 'Julia', 'No one', 'Mary' and some freaky remixes by drummer Gaston.
