Title:
Perd Oor Die Maan
website A tad late for a review perhaps, but this one deserves it's due. Pianist / singer Laurinda Hofmeyr composes and plays music to Afrikaans poetry, using the words as inspiration, to evoke feelings and also to translate each one's essential mood. This she seems to have a natural talent for. Simple, mostly acoustic arrangements within a sure-footed ensemble of talented musicians, played with honest emotion. This production clearly works within the context and although a couple of tracks lean towards predictable, one cannot escape the depth through time and thought brought to this project. A beautiful album by Laurinda hofmeyr.
