Title:
4/4 Down The Stairs
Website Goddam brilliant! From the Trippy Kwaito of 'Donkey Rattle' to the dark ambiance of 'Sexaphobe' - 4/4 Down The Stairs is a triumph of subtlety. Each well chosen sound played, programmed or found fits the slightly left of center framework that includes spending time putting bear's heads on old soft porn pictures perfectly. A couple of tracks leak influences - the Ninja Tune collective, Tom Waits head space, Bjork oddities and perhaps even a bit of Radiohead in the crying illustration? The electronica is diverse and grounded by Felix's beautiful piano, bass and guitar work that gives the album substance and warmth beyond the one's and zero's. The only bit I tend to ffwd is the 'Jesus at the Table' insert at the beginning, which is not to say it doesn't fit. Fantastic artwork by the way by Disturbance Design in Durbs. |
