Title: Jou Medemens is Dood
Artist: The Buckfever Underground
Producer: The Buckfever Underground & Cooper
Studio: Corinne's Studio
Label: Janus Musiek

Grahamstown seems to be the center of poetic license. Home to many an introspective giant whom no one has ever heard of. The Buckfever Underground never intended to release anything either. It was only after they submitted a demo and won the "alternative" category of the 'Vuurdoop 1998' competition that that possibility was thrust upon them. Fucking great I tell you! Here we have huge amounts of inspired prose written and spoken by one Toast Coetzer over Gilad Hockman's very sparse guitar jangling with tapes rewound as a kind of low budget scratching technique.
"..it's a sip and a traffic fine, a swelter full of fires shelter from the tape I walk along a streetlong scene as the last bits of bird gathers a tree the hunters of the casual glimpse festoon their already remote chairs in the middle of noise I look at my fingers like I lost a word in the dictionary on the 31st of February..". Much social commentary, the only real criticism being the delivery. A little bit of melody might go a long way in linking the music to the words, keep people listening. Fantastic design too Toast. Blows most local shite out the water and they can barely play their instruments!
