Title:
Sondebok website Distortion and Mr. Riekert down the aisle till death do them part. Though one suspects archangel 9 will find something to bang his head on in the afterlife for sure. Sondebok, although not something I'm going to subject myself to regularly, is a great piece of work. Master sampler and loop / process / mix artist Paul Riekert has obviously spent a hell of a long time crafting each track on his latest album, drawing on many forms of electronica (house beats and a whole lot of flanger going on), perhaps some 80's Voelvry head space, some folk and a wee bit of Satie to further augment the postindustrial revolutionary whole that is Battery 9. The vocals are mostly clear narration, the anger informed and the samples created are less 'banging on bins' and more curious finds. Always returning to the overdriven sanctuary of the guitar. Great design as always. Aces.
