Title:
'n Vis Innie Bos Anton's not a great singer. Not bad - just without distinct character - more that adopted Dylan drone which hasn't quite become his own even though it's been years. Then again as far as the many droll Afrikaans recordings I've heard go, this should probably be up for a couple of awards. 'n Vis Innie Bos is quite the musical crossover, where township jive guitar, marimba and what sounds like the Mohlatella Queens on backing meet Afrikaans folk duets with sentimental strings and then some sakkie sakkie for good measure! Anton's strength lies in his lyrics - at times an outward celebration of life and at others more a personal reflection when he goes all Suzanne on us. Nice arrangements and well chosen vocal padding by Lize Swart to help lift the choruses and the overall pace of the album. Also features Paul Hanmer on piano, George Phiri on guitar, Barry Van Zyl on Drums, Mike Rennie on Violin and Schalk Joubert on bass.
