PRESS QUOTES:
"ek is legio is the sound of the rulebook being deftly rewritten from afar."
- by chris sharp, the wire oct 04

"ek is legio is vol verrassings - vreemde loops en klankgrepe, 'n terloopse drum 'n bass ritme en 'n verskeidenheid van instrumente wat ingespan word. dit neem 'n rukkie om aan gewoond te raak, maar uniek en beslis iets anders as die gewone geprogrammeerde twak." - die burger 11/8/03 from chutney de ridder se pop'se gedagtes

"this is an extremely innovative, expansive release for those who like their music distinctly left of centre. from the wild imagination of ian watson and featuring members of the underrated blackmilk, this is polished and original electronica." - the star tonight 02/10/03 'keeping an 'i' open' by jeremy daniel

cd: ek is legio
cd: the summer eye

enkeleen is more of an idea than an individual. a collection of ideas if you will. hence the title of the first enkeleen album “ek is legio”, i am legion, many, multitudes: no man is an island. what is experience if it cannot be shared with others – either in the moment or a story, song or painting.

enkeleen aka ian watson released his first remix (using a 4-track delay unit and some on the fly manipulation) on the limited edition lithium release “century depravation”. but it was the free improv electronic jams with his friends ramon da silva, paul opie, damian staz (all ex blackmilk) and david searle under the moniker “fekal villan” that sparked the idea of creating a cohesive album using the cut + paste medium of digital recording.

with the help of ampie omo, gaston goliath, adrian brand, ramon da silva, damian staz, jacqui stecher, sven macalpine, wayne katz, warren wietz, dirk hugo, alistair douglas, david langeman and paul opie, “ek is legio” was co-created. all credit to the musicians involved and the catalyst – freedom to create.
